International FireFighters' Day

4 May 2024

International Firefighters' Day was started in 1999 following the death of five CFA firefighters in Linton, Victoria, in 1998. Recognised worldwide, the day coincides with St Florian’s Day in recognition of St Florian, the patron saint of firefighters.

Every year firefighters lose their lives, many of whom are volunteers trying to protect their communities.

Our grateful thanks to them.
