Janene, won the Queensland giveaway and chose to see Snuggles and Cuddles. She said
"What a delightful show. Thank you so much for the opportunity to attend. The cast cleverly delivered the play in an engaging and exciting manner wearing gorgeous costumes. In the two weeks since the attempted coup, the Erdogan Government has taken away teaching licences from 21,000 teachers, 15,000 education bureaucrats and 1500 university deans. More than 1000 private schools have been closed.
This is thought to be a reaction to the Gulen movement which is associated with schools, with asking questions and criticising government. Yet, it's very difficult to say where Gulen supporters are - there is not a formal membership process and this blanket targetting can only be seen as a worry for democracy there, let alone a worry for each of those individuals.

Investment in Research helps create a more equitable society. Government investment in research here is slipping.
Duncan Ivison suggests 3 ways to remedy it:
1) Collaboration in policy and research
Develop a bipartisan approach and include all the academic disciplines
2) Release existing research funds
There are funds sitting in the Education Infrastructure Fund (EIF), release them. And also allow for funding for research materials and infrastructure
3) Establish committee of experts to guide strategic investment in infrastructure
To give a long term vision of where investment should be made
